Dr. Allen-Hoffmann is a professor in the Department of Pathology and Department of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health and the Founder, CEO, Chief Science Officer and a Director of Stratatech. She is the first woman faculty member at the UW-Madison to start a biotechnology company. Her regenerative medicine research program is based on the study of human skin. Projects in her laboratory focus on basic and translational research on skin regeneration following acute and chronic skin loss. Regenerative medicine technologies discovered in her laboratory are being clinically tested in patients around the nation.
Dr. Allen-Hoffmann obtained her doctorate from Cornell University and trained with Dr. James Rheinwald at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Allen-Hoffmann has been Professor of Pathology at the University of Wisconsin Medical School since 1988 and has received continuous funding from the National Institutes of Health for her research program. She has extensive leadership experience and previously directed a multi-college Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Allen-Hoffmann’s research and business contributions have been recognized by the 2005 Harold Rusch Translational Research Award and 2006 TEMPO Business Women of Distinction.
